A beautifully handcrafted piece of earthenware, made by Nagatani-en with clay from the Iga region of Japan. This region is located in what was once the bed of Lake Biwa during the prehistoric period, and the mineral deposits make earthenware from this region more porous than most. The result is a pottery with higher heat resistance, a quality for which Iga donabes are renowned. By removing the steam grate, the Donabe Steamer, "Mushi Nabe", it can work as an all-purpose classic-style donabe to enjoy hot pot, braising, etc.
